Early in the morning, our flight arrived at Shannon Airport. A less than six hour flight left me a little foggy so we grabbed some Irish breakfast and coffee at the airport, then picked up our Avis rental car for the next few days. We reserved our rental car through Costco Travel. The pricing is a bit confusing so make sure you read the fine print. Also, it was significantly less expensive to rent a standard transmission versus automatic. Since I’m the one who can drive standard, I put my road warrior princess skills to the test. Let me tell you…driving on the opposite side of the road in addition to the driver seat located on the opposite side of the car REALLY takes a major adjustment. PPP TIP: In Ireland, the roads have many double-lane “roundabouts.” The rule is to stay on the outside lane if exiting halfway or less through the roundabout. If exiting more than half way through the roundabout, drivers must stay in the inside lane. See here for negotiating roundabouts! It all worked out fine and I had such a fun time driving around the countryside of Ireland!
