Our gracious hosts at the Cill Bhreac House Bed & Breakfast recommended this local favorite seafood restaurant for dinner. Seafood is our favorite, so we were excited to enjoy Out of the Blue Restaurant.
In and around Dingle Harbor, it was common to see fishermen landing their catch on the harbor docks. It made us hungry for our dinner! The restaurant only serves local, fresh seafood. If the fishermen don’t catch anything, then the restaurant will not open. The menu board changes daily depending on what the fishing boats bring in that day.
The award winning restaurant opened our minds and exceeded our expectations because our previous experiences with Irish cuisine had never reached beyond corned beef and cabbage or fish and chips.
For starters, we ordered the fish chowder and their signature scallops. Both of these dishes were outstanding. The scallops were prepared with the tails still attached. It was our first time seeing scallops with tails!
Next, we ordered Monkfish and Turbot for our main courses. The mouthwatering flavor of the fish and spices coupled with the freshness of the ingredients impressed us. We were satisfied with our choices and would not have changed a thing. We were pretty full from our meals, but were excited to try their fresh desserts. We both agreed on chocolate. The perfect ending to our short stay in Dingle.
PPP TIP: If you can, make a reservation. It is a small restaurant and fills up quickly. Make sure you get a table–it won’t disappoint!
