After our day trip to the Palace of Versailles, we took advantage of the evening hours at the Musée d’Orsay. This is one of my favorite museums in the world. With our museum passes in hand, we got into the fast lane line. Thank goodness for the museum pass because the daily admission ticket line looked like it never ended. Musée d’Orsay picks up where the Louvre left off so we perfectly planned it!
We used our dependable Rick Steves’ Orsay Museum Tour. Rick guides visitors through the different rooms and describes the most noteworthy art and artists. His guide does not go over every single piece, but he gives a great and informative tour of art work from 1848-1914. The museum houses the most famous collections from Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Van Gogh, Cezanne, and Gauguin. Also, the building itself was a former train station–a beautiful space.
