Bali is very exotic and fun–emphasis on fun! It is truly Australia’s playground because it is super cheap and only 2.5 hours away by flight. When I say cheap… a 45 minute taxi from the airport to hotel cost us $6 (USD), a 90 minute massage at a 5-star hotel cost us $40, a 5-star hotel room cost us $100/night including champagne brunch. We even hired an English speaking driver for 12 hours to take us around the island for an all-inclusive rate of $45–car, petro, tolls, parking, etc. Crazy inexpensive!
There are so many beautiful waterfront resorts and bars/nightclubs. Due the Aussie influence, it is more commercialized than the other SE Asia countries I’ve been to so far. All of your American and European stores are there–very modern and Westernized.
With all that being said, I will definitely return to Bali because of its natural beauty, historic temples, and trekking.
Although it was raining the entire time we were in Bali, we tried to make the best of it and see as much as possible. Trekking was out of the question because of the poor visibility and dangerous washed out paths. Instead, we hired a driver to take us around the island.
Here are some of the highlights of a rainy day trip in Bali! Temples, rice paddies, volcanos, coffee, and more! If you want more information, please email me at katie@passportplanner.com.
